bio
Tanicia Pratt is an interdisciplinary poet, writer, and artist from The Bahamas. She started her career in Nassau's underground poetry scene, dedicating many years to spoken word performance before relocating to London to study experimental poetics. Tanicia views her practice as a spiritual act, creating space for divine connection, introspection, transformation and ancestral reverence.
In 2022, she authored BLUE, a poetic narrative that delves into the emotional complexities of living and loving (in) The Bahamas, highlighting issues related to mental health, generational trauma, reproductive health, and the environment. BLUE was later adapted into an annual concert, Winter Blues, where Tanicia interweaves blues music, spoken word and theatrical storytelling.
Thus far, her writings have been featured in numerous publications, such as Bad Form, PREE, Lungs Project, POUI, Soeurs, among others. She has performed on many international platforms, including Write About Now, Middle Ground Berlin, Marché de la Poésie, Ormsby Hall Kingston, and The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. Her books have also been collected by The National Poetry Library of England.
Tanicia is a proud graduate of The University of The Bahamas with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. She also holds a Masters in Poetic Practice from Royal Holloway.
